A Woman walks across the city to the edge of town. She has surreal encounters with real and imaginary characters as she seeks atonement, remembering the unhappy incidents in her life that have brought her to this present state of despair.

As a writer tries to finish his newest script, it becomes a story about the regrets that he has had in his life, about past wrong decisions, about his troubled relationship with his wife. Very quickly his imagined past slowly becomes as rich and real as his real past and the two become blurred over time creating a past…

The story revolves around a century (starting in the year 1900) in the lives of two families; the rich Desrochers-Mannings who own a summer home and the poor Belziles their closest neighbors. The rich and the poor's lives are intermingled in a realistic way.
