Ann Dowd was born on January 30, 1956 in Holyoke, Massachusetts, USA. She is an actress, known for 服从 (2012), Hereditary (2018) and 情归新泽西 (2004). She has been married to Lawrence Arancio since 1984. They have three children.

Daughter of John and Dolores (Clark) Dowd, and one of seven children. Her grandfather, James "Kip" Dowd, was a Major League baseball player for the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Dowd Agencies, an insurance company, was started by her great-grandfather.
