She studied script-writing at the Filmacademie in Amsterdam, but stopped after 2 years because she started working for VPRO-radio and made a radio aftprogram called 5, 5 6. She stopped making radio because she was asked to act in Zusje (1995).

Made her debut as a baby in a sketch of father Kees van Kooten and 'Wim de Bie', a Dutch comic/satirical duo.
Has a son with Derwig called Roman, born in 2004.
Also has a daughter with Derwig, called Kee Molly, born December 17th 2007.
