René Angélil was born on January 16, 1942 in Montréal, Québec, Canada. He was an actor and writer, known for Céline Dion: The Colour of My Love Concert (1994), Omertà (2012) and L'apparition (1972). He was married to 席琳·狄翁, Anne Renée and Denyse Duquette. He died on January 14, 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

Met his wife-to-be, 席琳·狄翁, when she was age 12 and he was age 38.

Before becoming 席琳·狄翁's manager, he was part of a singing trio named Les Baronets along with Pierre Labelle and Jean Beaulne.

Had 6 children: son, Patrick Angélil (b. January 28, 1968) with 1st ex-wife: Denyse Duquette, son, Jean-Pierre Angélil (b. March 23, 1974) & daughter, Anne-Marie Angélil (b. June 12, 1977) with 2nd ex-wife: Anne Renée & sons, René-Charles Angélil (b. January 25, 2001) and Nelson Angélil & Eddy Angélil (b. October 23, 2010) with wife: 席琳·狄翁.

Produced René Simard's first albums, and managed Ginette Reno.

René Angélil passed away only two days before what would have been his 74th birthday. His brother-in-law, Daniel Dion (Celine's older brother), died from cancer two days after René.

He was awarded the Order of Quebec for his services to the Canadian Province of Quebec in Canada.

He was awarded the CM (Member of the Order of Canada) on November 19, 2012 and invested on: July 26, 2013 in Laval, Quebec, Canada One of our leading producers and artist managers, he also an example of generosity. With determination and extraordinary flair, he propelled the careers of Québécois singers, whose successes now reach well beyond our borders. His work often takes him to the four corners of the earth, where he collaborates with Canadian stage professionals, bringing our arts industry to the world stage. He also supports several organizations through his volunteer and philanthropic activities, including the first ORL (otorhinolaryngology) oncology research chair in Quebec, which he helped to create. He is also an honorary lifetime patron of the CHU Sainte-Justine.
