Sharon's early life was one of constant moving as her father served in the military. When she lived in Italy, she was voted "Homecoming Queen" of her high school. After being an extra in a few Italian films, Sharon headed to Hollywood where she would again start as an extra. Her first big break came when she was cast as the shapely bank secretary, "Janet Trego", in the television series The Beverly Hillbillies (1962) (1963-1965). In 1967, she would meet her future husband, director 罗曼·波兰斯基, on the set of the English film 天师捉妖 (1967). Sharon's big role would be that same year when she was the starlet in 娃娃谷 (1967). With her marriage to Roman, her life became one of parties, travel and meeting influential movie people. She would appear as a red-haired beauty in the spy spoof 超级情报员麦汉4 (1968) working with 迪恩·马丁 and the equally beautiful 艾尔克·萨默. Sharon was 2 months pregnant of her first child while filming in Italy and France a funny Italian comedy movie 十三吉祥 (1969) in February 1969. On August 9, 1969 Sharon Tate, Abigail Folger, Jay Sebring, Steve Parent and Voytek Frykowski were murdered by 3 of 查尔斯·曼森's followers: Charles Watson, Susan Atkins and Patricia Krenwinkel. Today all of her killers remain in prison.

The house at 10050 Cielo Drive, rented by Tate and 罗曼·波兰斯基 at the time of the murders, was demolished in 1994. An Italian-style mansion has been erected in its place and the street address has been changed. The new mansion was originally priced at $12.5 million in an attempt to cash in on the locations notoriety but no sale was made. Recently, the price was reduced to $7.7 million but the house still remains vacant.
Tate's never-born son was to be named Paul Richard Polanski, after her father. Sharon's tombstone bears both Paul's name and her own.

Was originally cast in the role of "Billie Jo" on Petticoat Junction (1963), but she walked away from the show on advice from her manager (Martin Ransohoff). He didn't feel it was a good launching pad for her career.
A January 25, 1965, brief in Daily Variety announced that she would play the lead, on loan from Filmways, in producer Sy Weintraub's Tarzan and the Valley of Gold (1966). The role eventually went to 南茜·科沃克.

Was originally cast in the role of Christian Rudd in The Cincinnati Kid (1965) by producer Martin Ransohoff, who had her under contract. She was replaced with 塔斯黛·韦尔德 by the film's director, 诺曼·杰威森, after 萨姆·佩金帕 was fired several days into filming by Ransohoff. Ransohoff was dismayed by Peckinpah's desire to shoot the film in black and white and to feature Tate in a nude scene.
Her friend 克里斯托弗·琼斯 was emotionally devastated by her August 9th, 1969 murder by the acolytes of 查尔斯·曼森. Jones suffered what he described as a "nervous breakdown" and abandoned his acting career.

There is a reference to Sharon Tate in 伍德斯托克音乐节 (1970) best seen in the bluray disc version of the movie. Exactly 15 minutes into the movie a local storekeeper is being interviewed on the business the rock festival was bringing in -- behind the storekeeper's right shoulder is a newsstand of local papers including the New York Daily News, the front page headline "Sharon's Pals Balk At Probe - Cops Study New Address Book". Sharon's death had been the front page news story around the world the weekend before Woodstock.
Her ghost has been seen at the house of David Oman that he JUST built in 2005. Along with his friends and guest have seen or felt activity by her and tried an exorcism, but failed to relive the spirits of her and other victims from Charles Manson crime. David and the other's involved could be seen on the popular Paranormal TV show Paranormal Witness: The Manson Curse (2013). Sarah Beaudin and Sarah Jacqueline both play her in this episode.
