He was best known as the diminutive but dangerous and manipulative gang member Jesus Hernandez on Hill Street Blues (1981).
Died in an automobile accident while 超高频 (1989) was being filmed. The driver of the other vehicle pleaded guilty to drunken driving and vehicular manslaughter. Silva's wife and two-year old son suffered minor injuries in the accident.
