个人简介

Born 13 January 1931 in Ipswich, England, Ian Hendry's career began rather auspiciously--playing the fall guy for a circus clown. After attending London's Central School of Speech and Drama, things started progressing nicely when he starred as "Dr. Geoffrey Brent" in Police Surgeon (1960). This led directly to The Avengers (1961) but, after only one season, he left to pursue film. This proved a fruitful move as he found plenty of work (perhaps not surprisingly, often as doctors and police officers), although he made occasional returns to the small screen, even guest-starring in an episode of The New Avengers (1976). His career was cut short on 24 December 1984, as he died from a internal hemorrhage at age 53.

早年经历

He was actually the primary focus and was top-billed over partner 帕特里克·麦克尼 when the first season of The Avengers (1961) hit the airwaves. The more successful pairings of Macnee with 霍纳尔·布莱克曼 and 黛安娜·里格 came later.

He was the father of three daughters: Corrie Hendry, Emma Hendry and Sally Hendry.

Won the 1966 "Golden Star" award for his performances in the TV series, The Informer (1966).

Was booked to play a British reporter in 蕾丝续集 (1985), but died before filming began.

Ex-son-in-law of Alex Munro.

Heavy drinking affected his later career and probably led to his early death. After his death, a special concert to celebrate his life and work was arranged in order to raise the funds necessary to pay his funeral expenses.

He was considered for the roles of Dr. Hans Fallada and Dr. Armstrong in Lifeforce (1985).

His part in Casino Royale was cut just leaving his dead body being removed.

Was in fairly high demand for TV until his untimely passing.

After leaving "The Avengers" TV series, Ian Hendry pursued an acting career in films.

It has been said that true stardom eluded Ian Hendry, because he refused to wear a wig as most balding leading men did during those days.

Has been highly praised for his naturalistic acting style.

An authorized biography of the actor was recently published, for the first time.
